HOW are we GREEN?...

For good reason, this is the first question everyone wants to ask us.

First, and most importantly, we are a SOLAR POWERED tanning studio.

Sun Lounge Tanning Studio is the first of its kind to take on the challenge of being more eco-friendly by reducing its energy demand using sun power. This may seem ironic since we naturally use the sun’s power to tan our skin outdoors, so why not use the sun’s power to tan indoors. In a sense, we’re the sun’s middle man.

Is Sun Lounge totally energy independent?

Though we are using solar power we are not 100% energy independent. Due to the high energy demand of most tanning salons, and the space that would be required to accommodate a solar power system large enough for a salon to be entirely energy independent, we have maximized our efforts by installing a system large enough to reduce our energy demand anywhere from 15-40% based on daily averages, weather, and business activity. Possibly the best way to describe how Sun Lounge operates as a business is to compare us to a hybrid vehicle.

On display in the member’s lounge customers can view the sun power software program which we provide to show exactly how much energy our solar power system generate on a daily basis. The program also provides charts that calculate how many tons of coal we save, and how many tons of CO2 we have reduced by going solar.

Do our beds work the same way?

Rest assured our beds are top of the line. We provide the highest quality tanning equipment, and UV Free custom tanners available on the market. We believe that our eco-friendly environment will only add to your tanning experience. One way we are different is that we are giving back a little of what we use.

Sun Lounge has taken every step possible to be as environmentally conscious as possible, and we will continue to do so. Here are some of the other ways that Sun Lounge has gone green.

We’ve used SUSTAINABLE DESIGN wherever possible.

BAMBOO, which is faster growing than other decorative woods, is the main feature of Sun Lounge’s interior design. By using bamboo, we are helping to reduce the demand on more popular woods that are becoming scarce due to deforestation, as well as the negative impact this process has on the the planet.

ECO-FRIENDLY paints are good for the environment and good for us, which is why Sun Lounge uses only the best brand of GREEN paint products offered on the market. In our tanning studio we have used Sherwin-Williams. Here is some more on the Sherwin-Williams GreenSure™ Paints that use sustainable raw materials, like soy and sunflower oil, and reduce the toxic vapors being emitted into the atmosphere by using less solvent in the paint.

HOT WATER is heated by a tank-less water heater which reduces CO2 by burning less natural gas, and supplying hot water only when needed through a flash-heat process.

RECYCLING is an important and easy way to be green. That is why Sun Lounge offers a unique recycling program to its customers who return their used beverage bottles purchased at the studio. Customers who bring back their used beverage bottles will receive a $1 credit towards any tanning product or service. This offer is good only for beverages purchased through Sun Lounge Tanning Studio.

Sun Lounge aims to carry only the best tanning products and lotions that will enhance your tan, moisturize your skin, and are all natural and organic. That is why we carry lines, such as Devoted Creations Green line that is not only organic and natural, but the packaging comes in 100% recycled products. These are a few of the ways that Sun Lounge Tanning Studio has begun to make tanning an eco-friendly experience. We believe that our customers have a choice in where they tan, but not until now has there been a choice in how they tan. We believe that being environmentally responsible is an important factor to consider whenever making the lifestyle decisions in today’s business market.
